A recent and unique addition to the list of GI tags in India is the Narasingapettai Nagaswaram (March 2022). It is a traditional wind music instrument created in a region near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Narasinganpettai village craftsmen have acquired their predecessors’ expertise in crafting wooden instruments and producing them using a procedure that demands specific skills.
